Clamp-on Meter Description

The TPI 296 in a True RMS reading digital clamp-on meter which provides accurate measurements on non-linear waveforms such as those produced by Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) or inverters. The instrument reads both AC and DC current and has a full range of additional features enabling complete electrical troubleshooting with a single instrument.
 

Clamp-on Meter Features

• AC or DC amperage up to 700 amps.
   

• True RMS reading.
   

• Voltage Measurement to  600 Volts AC or DC.
   

• Frequency to 10 kHZ.
   

• Simultaneous Current and Frequency Measurement using the bar graph display for amperage and the digital display for frequency.
   

• Minimum and maximum value hold (record) capability.  Ideal for checking motor starting current (locked rotor amps - LRA), and storing peak or minimum values of voltage or current.
   

• Ohms and Continuity Buzzer Functions.
   

• Diode Check Function.
   

• Trim Function uses signal averaging technique to provide a stable display on varying inputs.
   

Clamp-on Meter Applications

• Accurate measurements on the output of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), inverters, and systems having a non-sinusoidal waveform.
   

• Running amperage checks on 460 volt AC motors to greater than 500 horsepower and starting amperage checks on 460 volt AC motors to approximately 100 horsepower.

• Determining power and lighting transformer loading.  One-handed operation simplifies current measurements when working on power poles or from bucket truck.
